Decision-makers in the agro-meteorology sector have particular information needs. To respond to these, CLIMTAGTM offers relevant agro-climatic indicators for the past, present and future - including information about crop calendars or drought spells. For defining the indicators, we draw on our own expertise in agro-meteorology and rely on cooperation with experts from among others National Meteorological Services, Departments of Agriculture, the African Centre for Meteorological Applications for Development (ACMAD) and the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO). These experts particularly help to define the needs of the agro-sector precisely. The offered climate information allows CLIMTAGTM users to assess the severity of upcoming climatic changes and their impact on agricultural production, design robust adaptation measures e.g. as part of National Adaptation Plans, or prepare strong applications for international climate funds.
